In music today, it's becoming increasingly difficult for artists to be creative; hundreds of songs are released every day, most of which are trying to top the other songs they've to contend with. That being said, we now invite you to take a step into the enigmatic imagination of Tennyson, a seventeen-year-old Canadian producer that has made multiple HD appearances before. His latest remix of Daughter's "Smother" is about as creative as remixes get; to call it a remix is almost unfair, honestly, as it's essentially a new track that's just occasionally graced with Daughter's vocals. Tennyson begins his masterpiece by summoning a selection of jazzy synths and matching them with hints of xylophone, and a quick moment of percussion introduces a dreamy sonic aurora consisting of echoed vocals and bouncy percussion. Once the song hits the 0:42 mark, he drops a sequence that is unlike anything that we've heard in a good while. It sounds as if a trio of eight-year-old musical prophets took a break from playing I Spy (peep the artwork) in the living room to have a freestyle jazz session using a xylophone, a keyboard, and some synths. So how did Tennyson conjure up such a unique arrangement of odd, yet harmonic noises? We have no idea, but we do know that we couldn't be happier that he did.
