For the majority of us who know Danny Brown as the abrasive, in-your-face, eccentric rapper, this track may take you slightly by surprise. Brown is barely recognizable on this track to the point where you may find yourself looking for the other "feat." in the track title (Charli XCX is the pretty bittie who provides the hook, to clarify). On his new LP "Old", yes, for the most part he is his energetic, divisive self, but for a couple tracks he shows his more classical hip-hop talent. Whether you like this side of Danny or find it boring, "Float On" is done well and at the very least provides a good change of pace on the LP. For hip-hop fans who may find Danny Brown, in general, to be too much, this is definitely the highlight of the album and not to be overlooked based on your previous Danny listening experiences.
