We've been huge fans of Daniel Wilson ever since the release of his debut EP, Young Rubbish, and though the project gained him some decent attention, he's coming back now with a fresh sound that's placing him in a category of his own. The Detroit-born singer-songwriter has a new EP on the way, and he's already dropped off two singles from it, one of which is the edgy track "Killed Ya". Now, Daniel's decided to let loose the third single, "Boy Who Cried Thunder", and it puts a modern twist on an older, soulful sound. If you've listened to Daniel before, you're already aware of his remarkably powerful falsetto, and you'll be happy to know he puts it to phenomenal use here. His overall vocal performance is awe-inspiring, and musically, the track really is something else. The song begins with nothing more than a ticking beat and some constant synth chords, but by its conclusion, a climactic wave of piano keys, percussive blasts, trumpet bursts, and guitar swells overwhelm positively the piece.
