Toronto-based creative collective IXXI powers another incredible project from their gifted singer/songwriter, Daniel Caesar. Birds of Paradise is a two-sided EP complete with two tracks and one bonus track titled "Scream", an endearing cover of James Blake that first caught our attention a few weeks back. Both Side A ("Medulla Oblongata") and Side B ("Birds of Paradise") showcase the brilliant voice of Caesar atop minimal guitars and piano. The calming sincerity of each chord decelerates any heartbeat. Both records are produced by Jordan Evans, a multi-platinum, Grammy and Juno nominated producer, alongside Toronto's Matthew Burnett, whose resume includes co-production for Drake, Nas, Kelly Rowland, and Childish Gambino. This was day one for Daniel Caesar. Most people found out years later.
