The End

The Age of Fracture is the sophomore album from the London-based four-piece, CYMBALS, who escape ordinary with their abundant flavor and aberrant style of experimental rock music. In fact, pigeonholing these guys to one or two genres would be downright shameful, because, as this album clearly puts on display, it's as if the band lined up in the studio together, closed their eyes, hit record, and just jammed out. Their music seems a bit erratic at times, but it's organized whilst giving off an organic feel that comes with letting your craft flow freely. When you listen to their efforts, you get the overwhelming sense that you're listening to art being made with no restrictions on format or style or anything. This is obviously apparent with the standout track, "Like An Animal", that clocks in at just over eight minutes; it's a continuous jungle-ride that jars you back and forth leaving you fully engaged throughout, and for a track that's that long, that's no easy task. What takes the cake for our favorite off the album, though, is what we feel is the most appealing song on it, "You Are". It still has that unfamiliar flair to it, but it's also some radio familiarity on its chorus & pre-chorus that makes it such a hit. Find the rest of our favorites below, and head on over to iTunes afterwards to purchase the rest of the album if you're digging what sounds are here provided.
