Quite possibly one of the most influential hip-hop groups of the last 10 years is the Cunninlynguists with their undeniable quality through releasing good music year after year. Longevity is a staple for Kno, Natti and Deacon as they prepare to release their follow up to 2007′s Dirty Acres. Between now and Dirty Acres, Cunninlynguists did not stop releasing music but rather released 2 “compilations” (Strange Journey Vol 1 & 2) and just recently released Kno’s first solo album, Death Is Silent. Oneirology is the scientific study of dreams and this is a great pretext before even taking a listen to the album. You can imagine what you’re going to be in for if you are well aware of Cunninlynguists previous work. Everybody knows Kno’s production can induce a pleasure coma, so I would be weary of going to sleep after listening to this album. Oneirology is the sister album to A Piece Of Strange with its similarities in melodic structure from the drums, samples and calming vocals. It is too early for me to call this album their best effort to date, but after 4 listens It may well be on its way to deserving that title. One thing for sure is how incredible “Enemies With Benefits” is. Oneirology is entirely produced by Kno and also features Big K.R.I.T, Freddie Gibbs, Tonedeff, Anna Wise of Sonnymoon + more. Pre-orders have officially sold out for Oneirology so you will have to just wait to grab the physical album when they go on tour or via RBC Records & Bad Taste Records.
