Cruel Youth, an all-girl three-piece headed by vocalist Teddy Sinclair, brings some soul-soaked pop to the table with their latest track, "Diamond Days". Sinclair leads the song with her mournful drawl, which recalls some of her predecessors like Amy Winehouse and Duffy, but the most captivating part of the track is the blend of styles within. Elements of doo-wop and psychedelic genres of the '60s come together here, and whether it be the cooing chorus behind Sinclair, the gratuitous handclaps used, or the funky organ-like melody, the sound presented is one that is both new and classic all the same.
