Please allow us to introduce you to your new favorite cousin, Matt. Well, actually, Cousin Matt is a duo consisting of two musically gifted relatives, Matt and Zach, both of whom have different backgrounds and styles to bring to the table. Five years and three cities have significantly influenced each individual, a fact that is plainly apparent in the unique blend of styles on their first EP. Even though Cousin Matt is debuting their very first sounds, it's obvious that the duo have years of musical experience behind them, as seen by the stripped-down complexity within their impressive track, "Soft Science". If a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning had a sound, this would be it; it's smooth, as displayed by the seemingly freeform keyboard melodies over a mellow guitar rhythm; simple, as conveyed by the acoustic nature of the piece; and addictive, as demonstrated by the effort's ability to captivate with its fresh feel. While some songs of this nature might grow old quickly, we found ourselves getting sucked into the repeat button time and time again.
