Coldplay's "Midnight" came out to wide-ranging reactions two weeks ago when it saw its release, and a slew of remixes followed earnestly in tow. We recognized one of the efforts as exceptional and worthy of being shared (Urban Contact's), and today we're proud to premiere another outstanding reworking of the Bon Iver-esque original. Auram is the man behind the effort, and he's a producer whose talent we've featured before on the site. Consistenly impressing with his dynamic and diverse undertakings, including a recent collaborative remix of Drake's "Shot For Me", it's no surprise that what he does here with "Midnight" is both as intriguing as his prior material, and as epic-sounding as anything we've before heard from him. It's almost difficult to detect the differences between the tracks (the original and the remix) without critical listening, because Auram does such a phenomenal job allowing the former to retain its airy integrity while still adding subtle, impactful elements to it. The tactful implementations sound well-fitting, and the light, empowering bass, intermittent percussion, and celestial synths Auram employs really work wonders to implant thicker spirit into the otherwise ethereal original effort.
