As we made mention of in our last post about Coasts, the indie-rock genre is an inconsistent one in terms of overall appeal (though, we understand that most genres are becoming this way). With hip-hop, pop, and a lot of other sounds, it's easier to know what to expect, but within rock (the longest-standing genre of the three here highlighted), there are so many tiers of quality and creativity that it's almost overwhelming to tackle the genre at all. Luckily, we've bands like Coasts to keep our interests alive, and with their second single from Oceans, we've a specific piece of evidence to hinge our enthusiasm on. Within the five-piece's new single, "See How", we're privy to a wonderful vocal tone, excellently supportive electric guitar, and effective drum work to help coast the effort along. It's a builder, no doubt, elevating in intensity as it unwinds; and though its crescendo will have you thinking the effort's nearing its end, Coasts makes sure to ease us the distance in soft fashion, so as to return us to our sonic homeostasis. It's a truly whole track, this second single of theirs is, keeping intact the tenets of its genre without ever sounding stale, and we can only hope that the EP it's a part of will follow suit.
