We saw the seemingly harmless birth of Club Kuru a little over a year ago with the release of two remarkable songs, "Long Drive" and "Loot", via SoundCloud, but shortly after the tracks began to pick up some hype, they were taken down. It wasn't until two months ago that we heard again from the intriguing London-based act with another very promising tune, "All The Days", and, at the point in time, we were unashamedly begging that Club Kuru wouldn't disappear from the internet again. Luckily, we quickly got the feeling that they'll be here to stay with the creation of their own website and the release of a brilliantly formulated music video for their re-debuting single, "All The Days". Now, every doubt that we had about Club Kuru has giddily flown out the window at the sight of their brand-new release, "Seesaw", an indie-electronic track of such excellent quality that it firmly secures Club Kuru as an act for us to keep a very close eye on. Their style is somewhat tropical on the track, yet haunting, almost as if the sunny aesthetic of a blissful beach is shaded over by ominous clouds. The beachy vibes we speak of are conveyed through surf-rock guitar strums, fresh synths, and pristine vocals, but rapidly occurring percussion and spine-chilling electronic nuances contribute the darker side of the sound. We're really blown away by how meticulously produced "Seesaw" is, and there's so much going on so quickly here that you might need to pay special attention (and repeated listens) to really grasp the remarkably full sound.
