Clams Casino is best known as a producer for rappers like Lil B and Soulja Boy, but last year's Instrumental Mixtape finally freed his beats from the corny lyrics of the MCs defiling his music and the results speak for themselves. Clam's beats easily stand on their own, and he is one of the few producers whose songs actually sound better without a rapper. His beats are moody compositions filled with hard-hitting drums, off-the-wall melodies and a moving atmosphere that crackles, usually flowing over a chopped and skewered female vocal sample. "I'm God", originally released with vocals from Lil B, wasn't featured on the Instrumental Mixtape for some reason, but is my favourite Clams Casino beat.
