Stand Next To Me (Kill Them With Colour Remix)

Kill Them With Colour never ceases to amaze us when they put out reworks, and this is especially the case when the parent track is already fun to listen to. The particular offering of theirs here is a house track with dark vibes to spare, and it's a smooth beat that complements the original's indie-rock roots perfectly. In fact, this is definitely not a track we would have pegged for the Kill Them With Colour remix treatment, but the transition from sharp-edged, lo-fi sounds in Citadel's version, to the wound up energy that this remix has is welcome indeed. The vocals have been tweaked a little bit and layered over each other, but it's still instantly recognizable as a Citadel product, and the final version is a good blend of organic and electronic. Kill Them With Colour has always put together solid remixes, so the quality sounds we're treated to here come as no surprise, but this represents a new level of subtlety for the duo, and we enjoy it heaps. If you're still on the fence about all the new house music that's been enjoying popularity in the last year or so, this is the track that could finally win you over. The music is a blend of dance and indie-electronic, and it's a relaxed tempo that stays fresh and interesting all the way through. There's a heavy emphasis on the vocals, so the track stays engaging all the way through, and not once did we find ourselves wishing the remix would liven up a bit or change things up. Kill Them With Colour has attained perfect balance with this version of "Stand Next To Me", and we're excited to see what they come up with next.
