Chiara & Skye Chai double up their talent on their new collaborative remix of Ciara's "Promise" here, and though Ciara's an artist that's been remixed many times, her sound has never transformed quite like this. The original has been flagged favorably for its toned-down R&B vibe, but the composition here cuts in and out between big bass hits and distilling silence, and when it's paired up with Chiara's super-smooth vocals, the sound is striking to say the least. "Promise" continues in this manner for most of its duration, but by about 1:45, Chiara and Skye Chai flip the switch and introduce some sharper layers of sound that round out the package by perfectly crank up the energy a couple clicks. However, right when you think the song finally hits its stride, it starts to fade back into the lower octaves and you're left itching for more. It's a clever tactic, because right after you finish listening, we guarantee you're going to want another shot at it. This one ranks up there with some of the better electronic R&B remixes out, but it'll take a couple plays before you really get your fix in.
