In all honesty, we definitely didn't see this one coming. One of the best singers in the industry, Chet Faker, and one of the best rappers in the industry, GoldLink, have come together to create a song that's something of a mesh between their respective styles. The song is a part of the "Songs from Scratch" series, which documents how the track is pieced together from its inception, and regardless if you read about it or not, the two radiate an irrefutably authentic vibe on their collaboration, "On You". The smooth, style-filled piece contains Chet's unmistakable production, which features morphing synths, deep bass, myriad percussion, and some electric piano keys on the latter end of the song. A stunning chorus by Chet acts as an introduction to GoldLink own presence, as he takes a very intelligent approach to the sonic pieces Chet puts together. GoldLink opens his verse with some soulful singing, which is complemented by some undertones from Chet, but the rapper then starts flexing his bars with a collection of clever rhymes that we've come to know and love him by. We didn't have the slightest clue what to expect when we saw that these two had collaborated, but we're absolutely thrilled that "On You" is the outcome. Both artists incorporate their own sound, while, at the same time, playing off one another in a very tactful fashion, and the resulting sound has left us wishing for more material from the two, however likely or unlikely some may be.
