The man that everyone knows who it is when they hear the voice is finally dropping the long delayed solo album to be released July 7th on Decon Records. This album sprung a early leak today so I will pretend I was given out the promo copy for a review. After a in-depth listen through the whole album on my way to school today I was kind of disappointed. I did have high hopes after hearing the first sickness of the DJ Nu-Mark assisted 'Comin' Thru' But I guess I was looking for Chali over some feel good hip-hop tracks. This is all coming from a place of high expectations so don't get it twisted that this album is not worth your money. Highlight tracks like 'When Will I See You Again' boast Chali and Elzhi trading verses over a mellow rnb vibe. And on another standout is the beautiful voice of Ming Xia from the legendary SPOOKS lending out her vocals in assisting Chali on a heartfelt track backed by a melodic guitar about the death of a friend and that 2000 bus crash. Fish Outta Water features the likes of Damien Marley, Stephen Marley, Elzhi, Talib Kweli, Anthony Hamilton, Ming Xia (Spooks) + many more. And on the production tip is Jake One, DJ Nu-mark, Scott Storch and Vitamin D.
