CATHEDRALS

In the Dark

CATHEDRALS has, since their inception, always been the kind of band that just oozed "cool", and like their contemporaries, they've cultivated a very distinct edge in their music that has made the band feel like it's already become a force to be reckoned with despite their relatively short tenure. That being said, this latest song of theirs is leaps and bounds ahead of what they've already put out, and whatever praise you've already given them will seem wildly inadequate when you hear "In the Dark". We never really had any complaints about their sound before, to be fair, and in fact, we were already big fans, but this track is going to open up a whole new world of possibilities for the band, and if you thought they were good before this, then be ready to accept the fact that their past work was only a warm-up session for what's to come. "In the Dark" is being released via Neon Gold records, and while we're never the kind to just assume music is good based on what names are associated with it, it does bode well for the band's long term success that such a prestigious label has formally backed the release. The track itself is a much more powerful offering when compared to some of their other work (as we've already stated), and while it's definitely not any more poppy or generic than their other stuff, we do think that it's going to appeal to a much wider audience than their older stuff, purely because it's so darn awesome. They've still got all of their funky production work intact, to be sure, but it's the extra energy they bring to the table on this one that's pushed it over the edge from good to great. You'll love it. "In the Dark" is taken from CATHEDRALS' self-titled debut EP that will be released on Neon Gold September 8th.
