The lead-off track from Cataldo's latest album, Gilded Ones, opens up with a drum beat that sounds like it was recorded in a kitchen, but give it some time, and you'll be pleasantly surprised with what "In Now and Then" has to offer. Layer after layer of sound is added on as the seconds elapse, and the vocals get progressively richer as they slowly slide in with with chorus. By the time the brass is introduced, any misgivings you had about the seemingly rough-hewn intro gets swapped out for admiration at the way they were able to take the listener from sparse beginnings to a richly patterned product all in less than four minutes. The rest of the album is set to be released March 4th, so if this first single is any indication of how the rest of the project will sound, it looks like we're in for yet another breakout release.
