The last post on Jaytee Hazard's debut EP, Cold Blue, was filled with our praises, and as soon as we heard it, he went from being a complete stranger (to us), to a bright new name sitting squarely in the middle of our radar. Since we've taken notice, he hasn't disappointed, and with this latest single of his, he's taken that same expert blend of cut-up hip hop sounds and electronic sensibilities, and crammed them into a remix that's large in every way possible, and intensely smooth despite the copious amounts of breaks in the rhythm and abrupt drops in vocal volume that pop in and out of the composition. Listen to it once through, and you'll be instantly impressed with the way he was able to preserve the funk and groove in the original tracks, despite incorporating a whole host of new production methods and creative approaches to sound layering. The track hits hard in all the correct places, but Jaytee never lets the beat get away from him, and just when you think he's about to go over the edge, all the harsher elements get reigned in to let the softer vocal samples shine. It's another solid effort by the Australian producer, and more like it will work to get his name out into the light it surely deserves.
