BUOY — Took Me Up

BUOY

Took Me Up

We’ve seen throughout our reviewing tenure a sizable chunk of artists bringing in a grab bag of sounds to aid in the progression of experimental works. Sydney producer and singer-songwriter BUOY finds such a sound here—much to our delight—and while it isn’t as off-the-wall as you might expect after the aforementioned description, “Took Me Up” is definitely a full-blown eye-opener. Right off the bat, the track snags a full amount of our attention with its dominant synth structure, and what lo-fi sonic tinting and impressive vocals accompany it make us believers of the quality at hand. "Took Me Up" is a contained roller coaster ride, and it brings us to the heights of a dreamy tone while intermittently falling back to its original, slightly more mellowed form. "Took Me Up" is available for purchase on iTunes alongside a pre-order of her upcoming Immersion EP (the track is the first from from the four-part work). Look for that later this year through October Records, and enjoy for now its fantastic leading work. [via P&P]
