BROODS — Taking You There

BROODS

Taking You There

It's not that New Zealand was ever isolated from international success before Lorde came along, it's just now in the spotlight more defiantly that it has been before. What's remarkable is that New Zealand has another breakthrough act on its hands that might just be able to rival the success of Lorde, too. That duo is the brother/sister act, BROODS, who stormed onto the scene a few months ago with their smashing debut, "Bridges", and then more recently with the epic, "Never Gonna Change". Comparing any act to Lorde is not easy, we get that, but to be honest with you, even if BROODS came out before Lorde, the international success would have been there without Lorde supposedly paving the way for BROODS to follow nicely behind. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out, though, because their sound is on a completely new level. From the absolutely pitch-perfect vocals of Georgia, to the creative arrangements of Caleb, to the beyond-epic production from Grammy-winner (and Lorde producer) Joel Little, BROODS is on their way to international stardom, no doubt. On their debut EP, what's found is a little bit of everything in the realm of universal appeal. We already know "Bridges" & "Never Gonna Change" are hits, but the remaining four tracks only further solidifies their significance as one of 2014's best acts. With flawless track after flawless track on this EP, there is no doubt in our minds that BROODS is going to have one huge year ahead of them. "Coattails" is our favorite of the bunch, but that will be arguable with equally great tracks, "Pretty Thing", "Sleep Baby Sleep", & "Taking You There". (You can catch each below for stream, though, and attempt to come up with your own favorites in the process). The EP will be released in Australia and New Zealand tomorrow (January 31st), with the North American release following up on Feb 2nd. NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES 02/24 – Bardot – Hollywood, CA 02/27 – Rickshaw Shop – San Francisco, CA 03/02 – Brooklyn Bowl – Brooklyn, NY 03/03 – Mercury Lounge – New York, NY
