Brika's not as obscure as she once was. She's still beneath the breath of the masses, sure, but with what unwavering support she's received over the past couple of months, she's turned from a gem into a bit of a diamond supply. It all started with "Mumbai" eight months ago (and for us, "Expectations" two months later), and since, she's supplemented her buzz with another standout effort in "Options" that's accrued additional, deserved attention. We saw a particular pattern with the three tracks that had us thinking an album was on the way (and our fingers were crossed, believe us), and today, we're happy to report that that's been the case all along. Now, an artist as ecstatic as Brika is not going to come out with mere new news to work our intrigue up, of course, so on top of the announcement, she's sharing her fourth and final single from the project, "Gold", to keep our excitement intact up to its release. We're sure glad she did, too, because the track is perhaps her most skyscraping yet. It's bold, commanding, and confident to a fault, and any doubts Brika may or may not have about her career at this point can be thrown gleefully out the window. She's here to stay (well, she might reach the top of the alt-pop mantle when it's all said and done), and when we take hold of her debut, Miami Art House-released album, Voice Memos, at the tail end of next month (it comes out the 25th), we'll all be reminded of that fact.
