Bearcubs is an artist who requires no preface on HD, but here, he drops his first-ever piece under his own name: a rehash of duo Bordertown's shadowy, house-infused single, "All This Before". Bearcubs, who's already made a name for himself due to to his unique take on electronic, has decided to take a slightly upbeat approach on this one, and it certainly goes hand in hand with the name switch. On this remix, as expected, there are still potent signs of Bearcubs' sound, but what Ritchie does brilliantly is give the original a more tropical notion with the use of mbira-inspired synths and tingling percussion throughout. The drums are a vital component in the sunlit aesthetic as well, and carefully filtered breakdowns and vocal-sliced drops are utilized with pitch-perfect results. This might be Ritchie's first-ever track under his normal, moniker-evading name, but let's not forget what appealing electronic we've come to know the talent for. It's certainly all evident here on the track. You can purchase this remix on Beatport now.
