For being such a massive nation, we've only featured a handful of artists from Russia, but all have bled quality, and fresh Moscow-based artist Boogrov is the latest to impress with his debut Ostium EP. Being on the lower side of followers and plays has far from stopped him excelling in the genres he resides, and, as his EP clearly portrays, he's deserving of what attention he hasn't yet received. The project features three vocal-accompanied tracks that bolster Andrew's (Boogrov) production brilliantly and give off slow-moving, tasteful vibes. The body of work is surprisingly consistent in quality from start to finish, and we've taken a liking to all four pieces as they jump out on both the production and vocal wings. The introductory piece entitled "Otido" is the only solo effort of the EP, and it's not your average chillwave tune with unique, ever-changing chord progressions and evolving drum sequences. The other three pieces feature vocals from AYER, Aluna, and Mana Island, and each follows an unpredictable but entirely enticing sonic path. "Swarm" beside Mana Island and "Long Way Down" with Aluna each feature a medley of electronic inclusions fusing together brilliantly, and "Next To Mine" with AYER takes a slightly different course with its disco-minded drums. Overall, Boogrov's project makes for a bold first statement for the Russian beat maestro, and as long as he collaborates with vocalists of high caliber (and continues to further explore his own interesting electronic ways), we're set to see only an ascension in popularity from him and his work.
