We've always seen vast potential from London-based songstress bonzai's music, but we've never got around to posting any of it. That changes today, though, with her newest single, "Cruel", now out. Out of the few tracks pre-released before her new EP, Lunacy, it is the best we've heard from the act. The various sound effects found in the effort are compelling components to the auto-tuned, off-kilter vocal samples used, and they supply a solid base for her vocals to layer on. What we get is a strange, robotic, sultry vibe—oddly reminiscent to a soundtrack you might find on an old video game—and, admittedly, while bonzai's music might not be for everyone, we urge you to give it a listen and see. The aforementioned Lunacy will be released October 29 via Columbia Records.
