We posted a collaboration between blackbear and Hawaiian rapper, PRIE, a couple weeks ago, and all you readers loved it, so we figured it would be good idea to keep you up-to-date on Blackbear's solo efforts as well. "The Afternoon" definitely has a different vibe than Flash & Flaunt, but that's not to say you won't enjoy it. In fact, after listening to it for just a couple seconds, you'll be forced to come to terms with the fact that blackbear's voice and artistic vision transcends genre gaps with ease, and his ability to play the part of musical chameleon is just flat-out impressive. "The Afternoon" is R&B, but only sort of. It's got a whole host of other musical influences, and the production work is way beyond your average beat/chorus combo. If you're already familiar with his work, then this latest release is just another in a long line of stellar tracks to come from the LA native, but if you're not, then we recommend you go check his back catalogues, because there's a lot more of his particular brand of art-house R&B to enjoy.
