We're back again with another Black Honey track, and now that the band has a couple songs under their belt, the test moving forward will be to see exactly how much staying power their sound has in the grand scheme of things. They wowed everybody with their debut single, and the follow-up release was just as strong, but from here on out, it's going to be about growth and a commitment to quality if they want to continue to captivate the new fans they've gathered. With that in mind, it seems as if they know exactly what they need to do, because their latest, "The Taste", is not only a good song, but a nice progression in sound that embraces both a commitment to quality, as well as a willingness to see the bigger picture that's often easy to miss when you're worried about the little details. That's not to say that Black Honey doesn't care about the details, though. In fact, it's very easy to hear how much love and attention they put into this effort as a whole. There is something deliciously lo-fi about their work, but it's also got the makings of an edgy indie-pop hit that has all sorts of other great influences, too. Grab this one if you're a fan of the band's previous work (it's as good, if not better, then what they've already put out), but even if you've been hesitant to join the Black Honey fan club now, "The Taste" could very well be the song to pull you in.
