Black Honey — Teenager

Black Honey

Teenager

This is Black Honey's second track, and already we're sensing big things ahead. The band has been biding their time since the release of their inaugural track last month, but this second song is sure to keep the buzz alive as they move forward with whatever project they have in the works. We still don't know a ton about the people behind the music, and they've done a pretty good job keeping things under wraps as the music starts to turn heads all by itself, but one thing that is obvious is the fact that Black Honey has begun to emerge as a fully formed act with what seems like years of experience already under their belts. It's cool to see new bands just kill it right out of the gate, and Black Honey is doing exactly that. We loved the way the aforementioned "Sleep Forever" lulled us into a relaxed trance—thanks to vintage guitars and a healthy dose of cool—but "Teenager" cranks up the energy and establishes the band as much more than just a one-trick pony. Both songs ("Sleep Forever" and "Teenager") definitely sound like they were made by the same band, but there's a distinct division of creative directions, and that's something we really appreciate. It's a fine line to ride, but Black Honey has made sure they have a distinct sound while still remaining recognizable at first listen. This is pretty much the magic formula for success, and it's especially crucial to develop this in the early stages of a career. Without it, you'll just get lost in the shuffle amongst hordes of other bands who failed to get peoples attention and hold it there long enough to turn their passions into viable careers. Fortunately for Black Honey, they're making all the right moves, and "Teenager" is going to make sure they stay firmly planted in the spotlight until their next release.
