Black Honey has gotten some pretty steady coverage from us here at HD, so don't be alarmed if some of the songs sound familiar. The self-titiled EP is a masterpiece of off-beat indie-rock, and we wouldn't fault you if you have already had most of this track list on repeat since the singles were released. Variety is always a bonus when listening to large quantities of music, but there's something about these four songs that lends themselves to copious amounts of replay time. Their first single, "Sleep Forever" was a surprisingly successful track considering the band came out of nowhere a couple months ago. Then after people started taking notice, they followed that up with a quick second punch in the form of "Teenager", and from there it was just a matter of locking down what had already been one. They proved that they could make quality music, so it wasn't a surprise when the track got a sizable amount of traction in the blog world. With those two single's under their belt, this EP is a shoe in for material on your favorite HD playlist, but it just gets better when you take a listen to "The Taste" and the EP's new song, "Bloodlust". "The Taste" is a juggernaut of a track in all its lo-fi goodness, but "Bloodlust" takes the cake if you're in the market for a fresh new sound built from the ground up with vintage parts. It's got the fell of something that was recorded before the era of computers, but the structure is modern and innovative. Black Honey is still very much under wraps right now. In fact we don't know a ton about them, but that's irrelevant right now, because all you need to know is that these four songs will be some of your favorites. The band is just starting out, but we're always so excited when they come out swinging like this.
