Kidnap Kid’s remix of Bipolar Sunshine’s “Drowning Butterflies” bears almost no resemblance to the original version, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy its super-smooth execution just as much you would the original’s timeless style. Where Bipolar Sunshine made use of sporadic drums and plucky guitars, Kidnap Kid has instead opted for synth textures and muted lines of bass. In fact, it would appear that the only obvious crossover material from the parent track is a clip from the chorus. With so few similarities between the two tracks, one might think that the sound aesthetic Kidnap Kid provides would fail to acquiesce with the original, but he managed to supplement the work serviceably, and while his sound might not synchronize directly with what Bipolar Sunshine did on his own Drowning Butterflies EP, it captures the spirit of the music enough to make a solid addition to his remix collection.
