19-year-old producer Jimmy Q has been putting out ultra-smooth remixes for some time now, but the young Manhattan-based DJ has really outdone himself with this remix of a track from fellow New York-native, Betty Who. The original song is pretty much the sonic equivalent of a highlighter marker, with bright sounds in abundance, but Jimmy has flipped all that on its head, and put out this molasses-like re-work that has tons of cool to spare. The catchy beat and high-pitched synths have been swapped out for a downtempo vibe, and the track as a whole has a completely new flavor with a much more relaxed pace. It's nice to come across remixes like this that don't try to replicate the magic in the original, but go for something completely new instead. By going out on a limb, and finding a sound totally independent of what Betty Who already got right the first time, Jimmy Q has really hit this one out of the park.
