Best New Artists of the Month

(March 2016)

Within the endless current of new music, it’s difficult for anyone to keep up with all that’s coming out. To combat this ongoing influx of sound, we publish our “Best New Artists of the Month” articles in the hopes that you never miss out on the outstanding new artists emerging in recent times. All the songs from the artists mentioned here can be heard below. birthday Though we post tons of new acts each month, it's pretty rare to come across one with the sort of potential birthday has. The Oakland artist's instantly appealing electronic-pop shines through each of his first four tracks, and although he appears to be unsigned and generally unknown as a solo act at this time, his music can't possibly stay under the radar for very long. Fame is inevitable for him here. DUTCH DUTCH, a new rapper, singer, and producer from Toronto, is a rare talent. This past week, he released his second-ever track, "NO MEASURE", and it's been one we've had on repeat since. If he can continue to release incredible music like it, there's no question he's going to be one of the next to blow from the city. LISS We'll admit that it took us a bit of time to warm up to LISS, an XL Recordings-signed act from Copenhagen. Their sound is one that's definitely off-center, but, even with that, it has just enough accessibility to it. Their third track, "Sorry", is the one that's got us fully on board, and really, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world is as well. EMI EMI is a Seattle-based newcomer who's already released three tracks. With her latest, "SIP IT SLOW", however, she's showing the kind of appeal that's going to have her name on the tip of every label's tongue. She has that rare ability to project her own personality across everything she does, and it shows with her stylish and seductive sounds here. Saya Saya is another new artist from Toronto who's got the internet abuss. Her debut track, "Wet Dreams", dropped earlier this week, and those who heard it know it's one of the best debuts the year's had so far. The track is cute, quirky, and pretty unforgettable, we'd say, so to say she has potential is just stating the obvious here.
