Within the endless current of new music, it’s difficult for anyone to keep up with all that’s coming out. To combat this ongoing influx of sound, we publish our “Best New Artists of the Month” articles in the hopes that you never miss out on the outstanding new artists emerging in recent times. LÉON [track id="00950246" artist="LÉON" title="Tired of Talking"] If there was one artist we could pick from the month of July that has "future pop star" written all over her, it would be Swedish newcomer LÉON. Her debut track, "Tired of Talking", exploded out of the gates (she had no big co-signs, PR, or label pushing her out) while quickly racking up thousands of plays, and that's because it's one of the most catchy and addicting pop tracks you'll hear all year. As only the first track that her and her production counterpart, Agrin Rahmani, have released, we've no doubts that she's destined for big things. Transviolet [track id="00950342" artist="Transviolet" title="Girls Your Age"] When you've Katy Perry tweeting about your song and One Direction member Harry Styles tweeting your lyrics, you know your debut single is really resonating. And, while it could be argued that their behind-the-scenes connections could have had to do with all of the early press, we think that that's ultimately irrelevant, because when you've the kind of iconic-sounding track that "Girls Your Age" is, foreseeing massive success doesn't require any sort of psychic abilities. Lewis Del Mar [track id="00950164" artist="Lewis Del Mar" title="Loud(y)"][track id="00950444" artist="Lewis Del Mar" title="Memories"] Being compared to alt-J in terms of sound and trajectory is nothing to scoff at. Lewis Del Mar is the band that has been receiving such comparisons, and their sound—one not only their own, but different and dynamic enough without falling out of accessibility—simply grips. The Brooklyn duo has released two tracks off of their debut EP thus far, and trust us when we say that the last two they've to release are just as great. This band is going places. CHINAH [track id="00950258" artist="CHINAH" title="away from me"] It's not easy to get hype off the kind of downtempo pop that was "away from me", the debut track from the Danish three-piece CHINAH, but when you've the kind of absolutely gorgeous vocals that lead vocalist Fine has and the stunning, perfectly accommodating, and charismatic production that was on the track, you can hear the talent and potential here. CHINAH is here to stay, and with more tracks from their debut EP to come shortly, we're betting the band is going to be a big one. healy [track id="00950429" artist="healy" title="$150 / roll widdit (prod. by PLC0)"][track id="00950430" artist="healy" title="azulejos (prod. by AJMW)"] When you listen to healy, an up-and-coming rapper from Memphis, recognizing the unique talent that he has is as obvious as saying that the sky is blue. His brand of rap is not like the kind you've heard, either; he's his own easy-going cadence and rap-meets-singing delivery, and his production choice is mostly electronic-based (from what we've heard thus far). But, far removed from words that we can toss at his music, there's a vibe here that doesn't really need to be broken down, and when you listen to it, it's not hard to imagine a huge base of fans tagging along.
