Within the endless current of new music, it’s difficult for anyone to keep up with all that’s coming out. To combat this ongoing influx of sound, we publish our “Best New Artists of the Month” articles in the hopes that you never miss out on the outstanding new artists emerging in recent times. VÉRITÉ [track id="00947314" artist="VERITE" title="Strange Enough"] As far as figuring out who to put on these lists of ours, adding in VÉRITÉ was one of the easiest decisions we've ever had to make—not only because her music is so good, but because her rather sudden and meteoric rise to fame in in the last month or so has been a textbook success story. When we found her single "Heartbeat" in late April of this year, it was sitting on the internet largely unnoticed (despite its obvious greatness), and for the life of us, we couldn't figure out why. Well, as it turns out, people did start to take notice, and her newest single "Strange Enough" has been blowing up the internet since the day it came out. So much so, in fact, that internet behemoth Buzzfeed recently named her as one of fourteen artists who have altered the pop music game this year (along with other HD notables like Thomston and BROODS). Since "Stange Enough" was released, VÉRITÉ has taken down the aforementioned "Heartbeat", unfortunately, but we have it on good authority that's its going to be re-released as part of a full-fledged EP very soon (or so we hope). We called this one from the beginning, though, and if the rest of our forecast is correct, it's only upwards for VÉRITÉ from here on out. Osca [track id="00947400" artist="Osca" title="Blood"] Osca's journey as a band has only officially begun, but their first single, "Blood", has been a long time in the making, and already, these guys sound like they've been touring the globe and going platinum for years. It's hard to put your finger on why, but some bands just have a certain knack for putting out music that sounds inherently accomplished and refined. "Blood" is one of those songs instilling that perception in us, and even back when it caught our attention way back when with its stripped-down demo form, there were hints of greatness that could not be ignored. Now that it's fully fleshed out, however, its sound has grown up a lot, and the final product is nothing short of amazing. There are so many bands out there who have wowed us with just one song, and promptly tanked on the sophomore effort, but Osca has sailed its way onto this list with ease, because even if they quit now, we will still have the sonic splendor of "Blood" to listen to for as long as we want. That being said, we really don't foresee that scenario coming to fruition. We got a sneak peak at some upcoming material from the band, and it's not only going to make fans of all you readers out there, but will stand up to the strength of the first single with ease. Savoi Savoi popped up out of nowhere on the internet a couple of weeks ago, and despite the fact that he's had a couple singles loitering about on SoundCloud for the past nine months, his latest offering, "Distant World", has put his work under a very bright spotlight. The track has since moved out of the shadows, and is now building steam as we speak with its bright, island-inspired, production work, and deft composition. Savoi is about pop pop music, no doubt about it, but he's made sure he's not going to get lost in the shuffle of other up-and-coming hopefuls looking for their big break. What's his secret, then? Simply put, he makes infectious music. Yes, it's almost certain that he's going to be putting out even better sounds in the future, but as far as starts go, it's really hard to be anything less then completely impressed with what this Brisbane-based artist has already accomplished. We've only featured a couple of his more recent tracks on HD thus far, but Savoi wouldn't have made the list if his other work wasn't solid as well. So while you wait for his next batch of music, check out his back catalog if you're in the mood for some more audio sunshine. [track id="00947285" artist="Savoi" title="Distant World"] [track id="00947284" artist="Savoi" title="Into A Dream"] Fantastic Fantastic [track id="00947233" artist="Fantastic Fantastic" title="Never Enough"] [track id="00942149" artist="Fantastic Fantastic" title="Houses"] Fantastic Fantastic has only released two songs so far (each of which are able to be heard above), but based on what we've heard from them, we think they've huge potential. Their sound fuses funk, electronic, and pop, and it's sensible, catchy, addicting because of the blend. If we were to see either of the aforementioned tracks properly displayed on the radio, there's no reason the pair could not have massive success. Tenru [track id="00947293" artist="Tenru" title="The Way She Moves"] What's it say about someone that the first track we hear of theirs is one of the most beautiful ones we've ever heard? Well, for one, it might mean that we've a producing prodigy on our hands (as Tenru's forte is unmistakably the downtempo electronic he's whips up with the seeming effortlessness)—but more likely, it suggests that there's a whole heck of a lot to look forward to with regard to the obscure, but inevitably rising Perth-based talent. With his tear-inducing, popularity-accumulating tune approaching its third week of public love, we've had time to reflect on the magnitude of the atmosphere he's instilled onto the track, and we're as impressed with it now as we were when it first gripped us. Simply, "The Way She Moves" is the audio aftermath of an intimate tragedy—or, conversely, the rise of some once-impossible-but-now-inevitable romance, and however you want to fantasize when the track is on, just be appreciative of the fact that it's making you fantasize at all, as so few tracks nowadays inspire us to do. David Jones (Tenru) ought to be damn proud of this phenomenally downtempo, heart-assaulting track of his, and to say that we were hopeful of a larger body of work by the man would be among the understatements of the century. Oslo Parks [track id="00947321" artist="Oslo Parks" title="Twin"] This month, we saw Oslo Parks join the vast collection of nu-disco acts that we’re intensively watching. The Brighton-based duo popped up on our radar with their debut single, “Twin”, which is one of the more eclectic tracks we’ve heard in a while, featuring a dazzling amount of unique instrumentation, both live and electronic. Oslo Parks released their debut through X Novo, the London tastemaker label that brought us Phoria's phenomenal Display EP, and as long as they can follow up with more similarly excellent material, you’ll be seeing a lot more of them on HD in the future. Laura Doggett [track id="00947356" artist="Laura Doggett" title="Phoenix (prod. by SOHN)"] If your musical debut contains production from SOHN, then we know you’ve plenty more quality sonic material up your sleeve. That’s exactly the case with Laura Doggett, who presents her unparalleled vocal style on “Phoenix” atop an incredibly unique instrumental crafted by the gifted hands of the aforementioned producer. The UK-based songstress already appears to be with the major record label RCA, and rightfully so, because her talent already has us on the edge of our seats, anxiously awaiting new material. HONNE [track id="00947425" artist="HONNE" title="Warm On A Cold Night"] Music is created to make you feel a certain way, whether it be joyful or sorrowful, but the debut single from HONNE emits pure sonic warmth, and that’s something that already has us hooked on this UK-based duo. The infectious vocals, smooth bass, and powerful bursts of guitar and synths in “Warm On A Cold Night” hint at a big future for this act, along with the fact that they’re already on board with Super Records (AlunaGeorge, Bondax). Definitely keep an ear out for more music from these guys, because we’ve a feeling that they’re steady on their way to musical greatness. CHIME. [track id="00947358" artist="CHIME." title="Phase"] Every Australian producer and their auntie is listing Flume as a sonic influence these days, so to actually sound like the guy (without coming across as completely biting his signature) is pretty rare. It seems that the Perth-based duo, CHIME., has been able to do so, however, because with their breakout jam, "Phase", what we have is not only a synth-filled electronic anthem reminiscent of the former individual, but a tune of such gorgeous enormity that you can't help but be hopelessly engulfed by it. "Phase" is the third release from the pair, following one original and one remixed work, but it stands by far as the most potent of the three, at least, in our eyes and ears. The single snaps from the very beginning, with huge melodies and the aforementioned brazen synths leading the electronic charge, and after the fantastic sonic aggression initially subsides, CHIME. slides their sound into a finely distilled beat-driven direction. Ultimately, they return again to their skyscraping ways, and we can't blame them—the sky itself is the limit for the two and their monstrous sound.
