Best New Artists of the Month

(February 2016)

Within the endless current of new music, it’s difficult for anyone to keep up with all that’s coming out. To combat this ongoing influx of sound, we publish our “Best New Artists of the Month” articles in the hopes that you never miss out on the outstanding new artists emerging in recent times. All the songs from the artists mentioned here can be heard below. Opia Opia's debut track, "Falling", has swept the internet since its release at the beginning of the month, and, as the first-ever track for the pair with no industry might behind them, this is no ordinary thing. With the kind of excitement that's been stirred up all based on their one song, we have absolutely no doubt that they're going to become something special and able to sustain. BLESSED Very few acts can come out of the gate with such a refined sound, but BLESSED, a brand-new act from Australia, did with their recently released debut track, "One And Only". With it, they not only showed that startling fresh attribute we just described, but a radio-ready sound that we expect to be in more places very, very soon. Cruel Youth Iconic-sounding vocals are reserved for very few, and when it comes to describing those of lead vocalist Teddy Sinclair of the newly formed group, Cruel Youth, she's definitely in that rare breed. Recently, Teddy gained notoriety for her controversial outburst on New Zealand's X Factor, but with a promising new project here, it's safe to say people are going to forget about the past and focus on what she's making now. WILDES WILDES, a new, emerging talent from the UK, shared her first-ever track, "BARE", this past week, and, already, the music community has been sending praise around. With her is a sound that could be compared to that of London Grammar's, and we all know what eventually happened to the that group. The sky is the limit for this one here. Semi-Attractive Boy It's not often you come across music that not only inspires you, but sounds like nothing you've heard before. Debut EP Puppy from Los Angeles-based newcomer Semi-Attractive Boy provides that, and, while the body of work when found was still undiscovered, now that's it's seen some proper exposure, we've no doubts he's going to acquire some help on the business end. When he does, expect to see him making some serious moves ahead.
