Grey Luh

When we came across berhana's debut track, "Janet", nine months ago, we were instantly captivated; the song was strikingly fresh, genuinely soulful, and made us feel as if we were already well acquainted with the Brooklyn-based artist. Now, to our great joy, he's returned with his self-titled debut EP, and, with it, he's successfully cemented himself as one of our favorite new acts. The six-track project begins with "Brooklyn Drugs", a shadowy song built on woozy synths, chilling sirens, and berhana's unique vocal style. However, if you're hoping for more of the playful, keyboard-based sound he presented in his debut, you'll be happy listening to "Grey Luh". Frank Ocean fans are likely to enjoy "Wade Green", a dreamy, peculiarly structured track that reminds us of Ocean's "Sweet Life", and overall, we're pleased to say that the remainder of the project is satisfying as well. If you enjoy the body of work, you can head over to berhana's website for a free download, and you can also purchase the EP on iTunes now.
