BASECAMP is out with another killer original track, and this one is just as complex and refined as the work in their debut EP. Yes, it's obvious where they've tweaked a couple things here and there, but all the progress they've made is the kind of progress we like, and "Shudder" features the perfect amount of sound evolution. In fact, the production trio from Nashville seems to be developing at a steady clip, and they haven't really put out a bad release yet. At about a year in, that's a pretty impressive feat, considering most artists (even the best ones) have dropped one or two misses by the point. "Shudder", however, doesn't disappoint, and on it, we see a lot of those same great vocals we've come to admire from lead singer, Aaron Miller, as the rich tones in his voice add a very distinctive R&B flavor to the mix that compliments the experimental production work nicely. The BASECAMP guys have been tearing it up in the studio and in front of crowds, but it's quite possible that their best is still to come. They show no sign of letting up, and when you listen to their music, it's hard to miss the maturity in their work. "Shudder" is the latest artistic testament to these observations, and it has us eager as ever to see where the three take their sound next.
