When we inspect songs that we ultimately decide to share with you guys, the main thing we look for is how the overall song sounds. We don't usually post music based on one appealing aspect (a good voice, top production, etc.), but with "Stay", the debut track from Chicagoan singer-songwriter BΛREN ΛBEL, we've an example of a vocal performance being so good that we have to share it. We're not slighting the production here at all, but it's pretty easy to imagine BΛREN over something a bit more expansive-sounding rather than the relatively flat tune he's here upon. Regardless, its very apparent that he's one of the best vocalists we've heard this year, and with some more dynamic production under his voice which is already great, we could be looking at a very special artist with a very special sound to match.
