Banoffee, the solo project of Melbourne's Martha Brown, is a funky mix of R&B, pop, and some "wonky synth singy" (her words, not mine). Her latest release, "Reign Down", is a great example of all the good things that can happen when an artist lets loose in ways only the complete freedom of a solo project can facilitate. The sound is very asymmetrical at first, eschewing predictable beat patterns and synth melodies, but give it the respect it deserves, and you'll realize this is a seriously unique track with a tone that's quite hard to come by these days. Oh, and as for the vocals, there's absolutely no complaints in that department whatsoever.
