It's been a little over a year since BANKS released her debut album, Goddess, to widespread acclaim. Since—and with the exception of collaborations with Chet Faker and TĀLĀ—she's been relatively quiet, though. Now, however, after embarking on her own world tour, hopping around the festival circuit, and currently ending her tour cycle with The Weeknd, she's back with the jaw-dropping new effort, "Better". The composition of "Better" is not unlike BANKS' previous works; towering waves of electronic production, backing choruses produced by herself, and of course, her intensely sultry voice give it the sonic pronunciation that's made her so good. We hear with it perhaps her strongest vocal on any of her tracks, and it is with completely raw emotion and heartache that BANKS sings on the track. "I can love you better than she can", BANKS claims, and, even after hearing the despair in her voice, you can't help but be happy to have her back with new tunes. According to BANKS, she has "quite a few tracks" completed for her next album, which she hopes to release "early, early next year".
