We didn't really commit to memory the fact that aywy. and Ekali's collaborations were going to result in an EP until their new release today, "Your Love", reminded us so with its included comment on SoundCloud, and we've got to say, we're excited to see what all that bigger body of work is all going to entail. We did hear one other effort of theirs about a month ago in "Another Girl", and we really raved about its hugely intimate electronic sound, so it's no surprise that "Your Love" follows much the same sonic sentiments, but we're not complaining whatsoever. Like "Another Girl", "Your Love" really tugs at the emotional strings, but it does so without sounding cheesy or overly touchy-feely, as so many productions seem to do nowadays. Chalk that up to the way aywy. and Ekali so seamlessly interweave their chords with their dressed-up Aaliyah sample, their upfront instrumentations, and their intermittent, but surprisingly impactful bits of bass, and understand that the intricacies work not only to generate artistic intrigue, but feelings as well. You can truly feel the energy that went into the piece here, and, while it's easy to appreciate all the efforts the producers undoubtedly put forth, it's easier yet to expect great things from the two when their project drops in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future.
