Though this is our first time covering Avenue, the solo project of 21-year-old Toronto-native Sam Willows, we see that he's already released a plethora of upbeat remixes that've impressed quite a few ears. Recently, he's decided to dedicate his efforts to finishing off his four-track debut EP, however, and he'll be releasing that in the coming months. Today, Avenue's giving us the first taste of the new project with "Hot Slow Wind", a dark, retro-tinged track that's gotten pretty darn excited about where his sound is at now. Misty guitar plucks, sweeping synth chords, and steady drums lay the groundwork for Willows' haunting voice, and although the resulting effort is less dance-floor ready than his remixes have proven to be, we're finding the effort to be at least as enjoyable as those. Keep Counting, Avenue's debut EP, is set for release January 8 via Dine Alone.
