Avec Sans has been working hard these past couple of years trying to prove that you don't have to sell a song's soul in order to make it a good pop offering palatable for the masses. The idea that all electronic-pop music is a loveless affair steeped in cold calculations and ulterior motives is a common misconception, but there are acts out there fighting hard to prove otherwise. Avec Sans is a London-based pop duo fighting this good fight, and their latest release is the perfect way to get acquainted with their unique approach toward a pop sound that's not only high-quality, but sincere as well. "Resonate" opens up with synth lines and a booming beat that gets you hooked way before the hook makes an appearance, and Alice Fox's voice is just as bright and shiny as it was in past successes like "Shiver" and "The Answer". It's always refreshing to listen to music that doesn't try to out-maneuver you or obfuscate what would normally be pleasantly predictable, and, pleasantly enough, "Resonate" just sticks to its guns and stays in its wheelhouse. The end result is a track that will sound as fresh coming from your speakers the tenth time as it does the first.
