A downtempo virtuoso, we have sung Detroit-via-Ann Arbor producer Atu's praises for months on end, and it's with efforts like his latest, "Vacant", that we're able to lay claim to the fact. He samples some seriously mellow R&B on his track of choice here, implements a plethora of instruments to conjure a sweetly haunting sound, and throws down his trademark exquisite percussion to make another typically beautiful instrumental of his. It's amazing that we can't say we're surprised at all by the result, but we definitely still appreciate the consistency he continues to express. It's rare these days, sustained greatness is, but Atu's got it stitched on his sleeve.
