Atlas Bound — Lock

Atlas Bound

Lock

Amidst the wave of newly emerging electronic duos, Atlas Bound remains, undoubtedly one of the most fascinating. The Sydney-based pair has intentions of creating music that lies far outside of the norm, and they execute in a way that's remarkably euphonic. We posted one of their very first releases, "Dream", about a month ago, and their numbers might not necessarily look like they've gained too much publicity (120 Facebook likes and 69 Soundcloud followers), but some have clearly taken notice of the promising talent they possess, because Atlas Bound's brand-new track, "Lock", is being released through one of the most innovative upcoming labels, Cosmonostro. Not only is this a good sign for Atlas Bound, but it's also a hint that "Lock" is an irrefutably stunning affair. As we previously mentioned, Atlas Bound's appeal is in their juxtaposition of idiosyncrasy and listenability, and "Lock" is an ideal demonstration of this appeal. Opening with nothing more than a few warm piano chords and glimmering keys, the track immediately gives off a mellow, celestial vibe, which is only strengthened by the shortly following, subtle cosmic debris. A simple, yet captivating beat of bongos, kicks, and ticks sets in, and the vocalist's echoed croon floats about the sonic atmosphere effortlessly. "Lock" is the type of song that you never really want to end, mostly because of the extraordinarily peaceful vibe it emits. Whether intended or not, the song's spacey sound is exactly what we would want to listen to if we were stargazing on a clear night. Atlas Bound certainly intrigued with their first effort, but now, they've established themselves a duo that's overflowing with potential. Be sure to keep an eye on the guys, because if they've more songs of this caliber ready for release, then you might be hearing more of them very soon indeed.
