If chillwave-laced electronic is a fairly recent revelation in your opinion, long-time duo Arms and Sleepers will certainly prove you wrong, because they've been emitting absolutely engrossing, so-called “chill-hop" gems for quite some time now. With their 17th album, SWIM TEAM, set to be released late this October, the Boston-based act has teased us with two downright enchanting pieces that provide the ideal preface to what should be yet another utterly triumphant project of theirs. Album-titled “Swim Team” is the first track we've delved into, and it’s a vocal-cut filled, chillwave paradise, as plucky chords and tingling percussion continually embellish the track to its eventual perfection. Well-crafted drums add to the potency of the piece, and the unorthodox progression sets it apart from your run-of-the mill electronic pieces. Ethnic percussion is unquestionably the fulcrum on the witty-titled “Hurry Slowly”, meanwhile, as Max and Mirza (Arms and Sleepers) add dreamy segments to the steadily paced track. As it reaches its concluding stage, too, its most stunning characteristic comes out: the finesse integrated into the layering of the piece. If Sleepers' sound has tickled your fancy, check out more of it on SoundCloud.
