Previous to this one, Arctic Lake, a confidently up-and-coming trio from London, had only one track publicly released. That track was "Limits", a supremely gorgeous indie-pop number with heavenly electronic bits dusted within, and though it came out some time ago (three months is teetering on the edge of "a long time" in the music world), we know that that just means that the three have been treading composedly along their collective creative path. With "Only Me" today, we're again doused with the three's beautifully chilly aesthetic. There are light and frosty synths, delicate vocals alongside them, and restrained but respectable percussion and accompanying instruments added as well. The whole piece conjures up imagery of something cinematic, certainly, and we would not be surprised at all to find the number behind a work of visual art that'd be able to bring it further to life. In any event, Arctic Lake has now successfully shown that they're no one-and-done act. More spine-tingling tracks will surely follow the one they've given us today.
