In Greek mythology, Anteros is the god of requited love and avenger of those who scorn the affection of others. Perhaps it's fortunate, then, that we absolutely adore the eponymous three-piece. Their debut single, also “Anteros”, is imbued with an infectiously sunny demeanor with its playful musicianship and catchy choral hooks—all the desired components of a brilliantly crafted pop tune. Fans of Metric or the solo work of Emily Haines will especially find something to love here, and as the days start to grow a bit longer, this is exactly the kind of carefree pop we can see ourselves having on high rotation. Anteros is the latest band to sign to Duly Noted Records (home to preferred acts Osca, Paperwhite, and The Night VI), and the particular label will be the one to see Anteros' debut EP released later this year.
