Annabel Jones is calling upon the pop-star comparisons by some already, and though she's indeed a sense of creative uniqueness attached to her sound, it's important that we give her space not only to assess accurately her reception, but see through her growth spurred by it, too. There's nothing worse than spoiling a great talent too soon as a result of overpraise, and it's as important to uplift the work of hers as it is to resist calling her stardom too soon. She's only two publicly released tracks, anyway, and though they certainly are the type to elicit attention (and warrant celebration), they're not all that Annabel is and can be. We ought to tread carefully with the weight of our expectations, therefore, so as to not burden her potential and artistic direction. With all of that said, it's obvious that "Magnetic" is a stunner of a track, and praise is due to the one behind it. Annabel's flamboyant hooks and effortlessly fun-oozing melodies are exceptional, and it's been a while since we've heard as free-sounding a track as that which she's here released. Liberating as it may be, though, one ought not confuse it for a cheap, whimsical listen; it's, in fact, a varied one comprised partly of spunk, spontaneity, and slight charm—with all the tenets of infectious singing and songwriting studded radiantly within. You can definitely tell Annabel loves doing what she does, and her musical spirit indeed shines through every note reached, every line sung, and every inflection expressed. It's all enough to win over those who happen upon her, we believe, and with the right amount of appreciation thrown her way, we believe, too, that she's the potential for a bright career ahead of her.
