Vicente Espi and Arielle Vakni's (ANIMA!) brand of vocal-led electronic is one we seldom come across, and, as the two prepare for the launch of their debut album early next year, they're releasing the second cut from it, "You're Alive", now. We first sunk our ears into theirs inaugural EP, Be Here Now, almost one year ago, and it was clear from listening to it that more marvelous material was on the way. "You're Alive" is a piece with a well-rounded sonic character, no doubt, with Arielle providing her vocal brilliance throughout and complementing Vicente's break-filled, left-leaning production quite well. The track is weighted flawlessly, too, as each of their creative skills emerge to give rise to a delicate coalition of alternative and electronic-pop sounds. We certainly love it all.
